Smell of fresh paint and glue

So some text have been creeping up in my work…. in the books and journals and everything I am doing. As I sat to make some fresh pegs and was sanding the wood I was transported to my childhood days, at home I have this mounted poster with a leopard staring, it reads 'You observe a lot by Watching' and it's the most inspirational quote of my life, and so I though of passing it on... writing it out, with some stare-able goobeys (Owls) who are know to be wise as they are good observers.

My next quote I thought of writing was about happiness which is becoming ever so elusive from our lives. "Happiness" is a mindset and sometimes a decision…. it is within our reach as most of the time it is a matter of perspective.

Here are some pegs I worked on mostly for my love for happy animals, inspirational words of my childhood and the my love for the home cooked food.
Next few months I have some new designs is to be tried and tested on wood and paper with more color and new thoughts.

We cannot teach children art

My tryst with my 4 yr old gives me something new to chew on almost everyday….This is about art.

I always loved art but it took me quite a while to get in good terms with it. I find my 4yr old un-bashfully painting his books green, red and blue. I wondered.... It was not what he did... BUT HOW he did it! It takes some courage to pick up a brush and the more we get older the fearful we become.

So at the end ( or rather the beginning) it's the attitude not intent or content that matters most in art.
Children have the ability to inspire themselves mostly during play…. their interaction with their environment is crucial during the formative part of their life. Giving them a conducive environment thus becomes extremely crucial.
Thus the idea of just setting up a space for them to explore…. play…and be!
I am venturing into letting children spend some time in my studio and express themselves…. Hoping some magic will take it course :)

Upcycle fabric Boxes

Girls, how much we love to organize, gift or receive adoreable clutter boxes. When it comes to organizing we all are always looking around for something that suits our requirements…. and that's how we came up with these pretty Up-cycled fabric boxes.

These boxes are made from discarded duct-tapes, cardboards (rejects from a file making factory) and surplus fabric handpicked and sorted. They make lovely trincklet keepers, stationery organizers or simply for gifting! Here is a selection of boxes… our spring range

COFFE LOVE!

We are very glad to be part of promoting a small section of very skillful woman who makes these boxes for us, these boxes are made by a self-help woman's group under Prashanti Foundation based in Uttrara Karnataka. Making these boxes bring livelihoods to many households and education to the children.

A very warm thanks to Sushmita, who help me put together this shoot for me. I was taking pretty static product shots when she came in and arranged for a very pleasing movement-ful set up. We used water colored props which gave life to the boxes.

It's always good to know....

When we started we were two…

Cutlet #1: Namrata, a garment industry professional, she is a cleanliness + control freak be it home or her heels! A tough task  master, with a keen eye for detail, she can give you gyaan on fabrics backwards! Quick and nimble with a baby in toe, she drives a Bolero.

Currently namrata has gone back to a day job and looking after a burgeoning family… we are hopeful that she will be back with us as she still remains a very positive force behind Enthucutlets.

Cutlet # 2: Antara, a graphic artist with a head muddled up with ideas... she is a DIY fanatic and love to paint walls or any surface she fancies. An easy bumpkin and a nature’s fiend, she brings in some innovative product ideas mixed with some artistic wish-wash.

Enthucutlets?! Are you serious??

Our name is unique and we let you decide what it means to you!
It all started in the summers of 2010. Two very charged up woman who had known each other for over a decade (hostel mates) high on life with babies to tend, dreamt of making products that they need at home. Our products are mostly for woman like us…. A few ideas emerged and after a lot of animated discussion we had two fold insights about woman who were homemakers.

1. We realized that if woman at home became good organizers they can increase their potentials on a day to day basis. We came up with a number of ideas and products that let us do just that.
These products needed to be bright and cheerful and reflect the identities of people and spaces owning them…
Pinboard was our very first product followed by blackboards and they still are our best selling products.

2. Our second idea was on the thought that traditionally woman spends a lot of time in kitchen and for woman at home even now kitchen is a potential power station.
For me a kitchen is where ideas are created and executed, where love is found, where emotions are spiced up with other ingredients of our daily life. We created up-cycle products and art prints to carry this idea forward. We are still under way to develop more products in our kitchen range.

Since our enterprise was personal yet ambitious we started with a very small budget. We also realized the best way forward is to make use of waste. We tried to follow the non-industrial way, handmade, no or less waste, minimal resources and mostly recycled. We tried fusing crafting and design know how’s in our products… we also realized that leaning comes from doing it yourself!
And this journey is still in its nascent stage and we have a long way to go.Destination can wait.
