When
we started we were two…
Cutlet #1: Namrata, a garment industry professional, she is a cleanliness + control freak be it home or her heels! A tough task master, with a keen eye for detail, she can give you gyaan on fabrics backwards! Quick and nimble with a baby in toe, she drives a Bolero.
Currently namrata has gone back to a day job and looking after a burgeoning family… we are hopeful that she will be back with us as she still remains a very positive force behind Enthucutlets.
Cutlet # 2: Antara, a graphic artist with a head muddled up with ideas... she is a DIY fanatic and love to paint walls or any surface she fancies. An easy bumpkin and a nature’s fiend, she brings in some innovative product ideas mixed with some artistic wish-wash.
Enthucutlets?! Are you serious??
Our name is unique and we let you
decide what it means to you!
It all started in the summers of
2010. Two very charged up woman who had known each other for over a decade
(hostel mates) high on life with babies to tend, dreamt of making products that
they need at home. Our products are mostly for woman like us…. A few ideas
emerged and after a lot of animated discussion we had two fold insights about
woman who were homemakers.
1. We realized that if woman at
home became good organizers they can increase their potentials on a day to day
basis. We came up with a number of ideas and products that let us do just that.
These products needed to be bright
and cheerful and reflect the identities of people and spaces owning them…
Pinboard was our very first product
followed by blackboards and they still are our best selling products.
2. Our second idea was on the
thought that traditionally woman spends a lot of time in kitchen and for woman
at home even now kitchen is a potential power station.
For me a kitchen is where ideas are
created and executed, where love is found, where emotions are spiced up with
other ingredients of our daily life. We created up-cycle products and art
prints to carry this idea forward. We are still under way to develop more
products in our kitchen range.
Since our enterprise was personal
yet ambitious we started with a very small budget. We also realized the best
way forward is to make use of waste. We tried to follow the non-industrial way,
handmade, no or less waste, minimal resources and mostly recycled. We tried
fusing crafting and design know how’s in our products… we also realized that
leaning comes from doing it yourself!
And this journey is still in its
nascent stage and we have a long way to go.Destination can wait.
